Caramel Frosting Recipe

 _____Ingredients:_____

– 2 cups all-purpose flour

– 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar

– 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

– 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

– 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

– 1 teaspoon salt

– 2 large eggs

– 1 cup whole milk

– 1/2 cup vegetable oil

– 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

– 1 cup boiling water

– For the Caramel Frosting:

– 1 cup unsalted butter, softened

– 2 cups powdered sugar

– 1/2 cup caramel sauce

– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

– Pinch of salt

_____Directions:_____

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix on medium speed until well combined.

4. Stir in boiling water until the batter is smooth. The batter will be thin, but that’s okay.

5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

6. While the cakes are cooling, prepare the Caramel Frosting by beating together butter, powdered sugar, caramel sauce, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth and fluffy.

7. Once the cakes are completely cooled, frost the top of one cake layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the entire cake.
