BROWN SUGAR MEATLOAF

 

Ingredients:

1/2 cup packed brown sugar

1/2 cup ketchup

1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef

3/4 cup milk

2 eggs

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

1 small onion, chopped

1/4 teaspoon ground ginger

3/4 cup finely crushed saltine cracker crumbs

 

Directions:

Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly grease a 5×9 inch loaf pan.

Prepare the base: Press the brown sugar into the bottom of the prepared loaf pan and spread the ketchup over the sugar.

Mix the ingredients: In a mixing bowl, thoroughly combine all remaining ingredients, shaping them into a loaf.

Place in the pan: Lay the shaped meatloaf on top of the ketchup in the loaf pan.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour or until the juices run clear.

 

Tips:

Use lean ground beef to reduce excess fat in the meatloaf.

Ensure the meatloaf is shaped evenly to promote even cooking.

Allow the meatloaf to rest for a few minutes before slicing to retain its juices.

Customize the seasoning to your taste preferences; consider adding herbs or spices for additional flavor.
