Taco Bell Nacho Cheese Sauce

– 1 cup milk

 

– 1 tablespoon butter

 

– 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

 

– 1/2 teaspoon salt

 

– 1/4 teaspoon paprika

 

– 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for added heat)

 

– 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

 

– 1 can (4 oz) diced green chilies, drained (optional, for extra flavor)

1. In a small saucepan, heat milk over medium heat until warm but not boiling.

 

2. In another saucepan, melt butter over medium heat.

 

3. Stir in all-purpose flour and cook for 1-2 minutes, until mixture is smooth and bubbly.

 

4. Gradually whisk warm milk into the flour mixture, stirring constantly to prevent lumps from forming.

 

5. Cook and stir until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil, about 2-3 minutes.

 

6. Reduce heat to low and stir in salt, paprika, and cayenne pepper (if using).

 

7. Gradually add shredded cheddar cheese to the sauce, stirring constantly until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth and creamy.

 

8. If using diced green chilies, stir them into the cheese sauce until evenly distributed.
